Bergerac Pebble Pavement and Pottery
Half-timbered brick and stone houses on a pebble pavement street in Bergerac, Nouvelle Aquitaine, France. Bergerac is a city on the Dordogne River with a marvelous old town by the river’s edge. I just love the range of textures in this picture. The pavements are sealed with circular pebbles, the house façades are hand-made terracotta brick infills between the exposed timbers, and the ground level is rough-hewn white stone. In front of these medieval buildings is a row of very large terracotta urns filled with flowers and small trees.
Around the corner is a statue of Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac (March 1619 – 28 July 1655) who was a French novelist, playwright, epistolarian, and duelist.
