Burnt Scarred Tree Trunk

Burnt Scarred Tree Trunk

A burnt stump of a gnarled gum tree in the Lane Cove National Park, North Shore, Sydney, New South Wales. This colourful, serpentine shaped trunk, covered in red and orange fungi and black burns, caught my eye as I wandered through the park. I painted an almost identical view several years ago and sold it. Recent collector interest caused me to revisit the reference photograph and to paint a 2022 version. Oils on linen on board. 25.4cm high by 20.3cm wide by 0.5cm deep.
