Eyrignac Gardens
Eyrignac Gardens in Salignac-Eyvigues, France feature exquisitely manicured formal gardens surrounding many historic buildings. In this oil painting, we see one of several golden stone buildings with a slate roof. An artificial pool reflects both the building and a number of superb examples of topiary – bushes clipped into geometric shapes. Clipped hedges divide the gardens into “rooms”. Smaller stone pavilions – golden stone and with slate roofs – provide a contrast with their leafy surrounds and offer more interesting reflections in formal pools. There is also a “children’s” garden with a number of topiary animals.
