Flinders is a quiet seaside village on Westernport, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. While each of the individual elements of this composition is realistic, the arrangement of them is purely synthetic. That is, there is no where on the clifftop where a viewer could see the juxtaposition of the West Head and old and new piers as shown in this painting. Artistic licence abounds here.
