Castles on the Rhine

Description

Burg Pfalzgrafenstein Castle on Falkenau Island in the Rhine River, opposite the village of Kaub and below the Schlosshotel Gutenfels in Germany. Burg Pfalzgrafenstein was built by Mad King Ludwig the Bavarian in 1326 as a toll castle to generate revenue. Gutenfels, now a hotel, was built in 1220.
