Description
A wonderful mélange of wood, stone and glass in a heritage building in the heart of Tours, France. I presume that the name <<Chez Gerard>>, meaning Gerard’s Home, suggests that this is a restaurant. The wonderful colours and textures caught my eye as I walked past in the centre of Tours on the banks of the Loire river.
While I always try to seek out the old town, generally in the centre of a city and most likely on the banks of a river, I am reminded that Tours is a modern town. For example, modern tramways (street cars) run on an Alimentation Par Sol (APS) current feed via a third, centre, rail which is energised at 750 Volts DC only when the tram is on top . This means the tram can run down cobbled roads in the old town without ugly overhead wires and poles.
Watercolour on Arches paper. 29.7 cm X 21.0 cm X 0.1 cm. A4 size.
