Description
A view of Fujiyama from the ropeway above the Hakone volcano on Honshu, Japan. The ropeway cars (télécabines, cable cars) pass above the sulphurous fumeroles of the caldera at Hakone. For a brief moment the snow-covered peak of Mount Fuji is visible above the forested hills of the national park.
On our way to Odawara in a Shinkansen, we were treated to a clear view of snow-crowned Fujiyama against a clear blue sky. Unfortunately, this had reduced to brief glimpses through low clouds as we approached Hakone and its scenic wonders.
Oils on canvas on composite board. 30.5 cm x 40.6 cm x 0.5 cm
