Description
The first bright yellow wattle (acacia) blossoms fill the fresh air with their delightful scent along Darebin Creek in Melbourne’s north-eastern suburbs.
This is a familiar view of the valley of the Darebin Creek as it flows through Thornbury on its way from Melbourne’s north to the Birrarung (River Yarra) in Ivanhoe, I regularly walk or cycle along the shared trail beside the waterway and stop for coffee on the deck of a café overlooking the forested scene. In cool weather, early in the morning, a stroll on a rough walking track beside the bubbling stream takes one’s thoughts way from the cares of life.
Then in Spring, the fragrance of the wattle (mimosa) blossoms adds a further delightful dimension.
Oil painting by Dai Wynn on canvas board. 40.6cm high by 30.5cm wide by 0.5cm deep.
