Description
Currie lies on the west coast of King Island, directly in the path of the “Roaring Forties” winds in Bass Strait. While Currie is the largest town on the island, its harbour is essentially blocked to shipping by a reef. As an island between Tasmania and the Australian mainland, all heavy freight is brought in by ship. The main harbour is at Grassy on the east coast.
