10 January 202311 August 2024 Darebin Creek Early Morning Darebin Creek flows through its wetlands at Alphington on its way to the Yarra/Birrarung River north-east of Melbourne, Victoria. In this early morning view, I tried to capture a contre-jour effect where the sun is almost directly ahead of the viewer. At the same time, deep shadows cast by the tall trees on either bank, increase the depth of contrast in the painting. This is a favourite haunt of mine, whether on foot or bicycle. The stream is permanent and flows beneath cliffs, through rocky gorges, over shallow stone beds and past sandy beaches. All the while in a forested area surrounded by suburbia. Oil painting by Dai Wynn on linen on composite board. 40.6cm high by 30.5cm wide by 0.5cm deep.< GALLERY SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE POSTS
