Framing, Shipping, Insuring Artworks

Artwork Size

As a visual artist, I offer pieces of art on heavy paper, hardboard or stretched canvas.  There are essentially two sizes - small (30 cm X 40 cm) and large (102 cm X 76 cm).

Framing

For the most part, my artworks are unframed for various reasons.

Firstly, I regard framing as a separate skill.

Secondly, the look of a frame is a very personal thing.

Thirdly, a frame adds cost and weight to the artwork and, since almost all of my sales have been to clients in the USA and Europe, they are transported by air.

Fourthly, artworks on paper are often framed under glass which is somewhat fragile.

Nevertheless, should a collector want a "finished" artwork ready for gifting, I can organise framing and a hanging wire.

Shipping

Very small oil paintings on canvas panel are shipped in a corrugated cardboard box packed with discarded paper.

Small oil paintings on canvas on hardboard panel are shipped in a large cardboard post box without extra packing.  However, the painted surface is protected.

Large works on stretched canvas are shipped commercially in a bespoke cardboard crate.

All works on paper are shipped rolled in a heavy cardboard posting tube.

Apart from the large stretched canvas works, all packages are sent to anywhere in the world via Australia Post.

Shipping is included for all smaller, unframed artworks.  Ordinary delivery to the USA or Europe is about two weeks.

In my experience, DHL can deliver anywhere in 2 to 3 days - but at a high price.

Insurance

I do not normally insure shipped artworks and have never had occasion to regret it.  Should a collector wish to insure an artwork such that compensation is paid if damaged or lost, then that can be organised at cost.  Alternatively, I can replicate an artwork in my studio.

Certificate of Authenticity

All artworks produced by me are dispatched with a Certificate of Authenticity which is a signed document describing the artwork, the materials used, the dimensions, the date, my contact details and the geographical location of my studio.
