Sinwell Tower, Kaiserburg, Nuremberg, Germany

This is my oil painting of the Sinwell Tower (Sinwellturm) at the east end of the bailey of the Kaiserburg (Imperial Castle) of Nuremberg (Nürnberg) in Germany.  Next to the Deep Well (50 metres into solid rock) house, the Sinwell Tower (2nd half of the 13th Century) sits on a particularly high point of a rocky spur.  "Sinwell" in Middle High German means "extremely round".  In spite of its exposed position it was one of the few castle buildings to survive the bombing of Nuremberg in WWII.  Oil painting on canvas panel on board.  40.6 cm x 30.5 cm x 0.5 cm.
