Assisi Vicolo - Oils on canvas panel, unframed - 20.3 x 25.4 x 0.3cm

A small alley (vicolo) in the town of Assisi, Umbria, Italy.  This scene was painted after a visit to this charming village, famed for its basilica of Saint Francis, revered as the patron saint of animals and ecology.  As a matter of interest, he was born Giovanni di Petro di Bernadone on 19 August 1181 and died on 3 October 1226.  He was canonised on 16 July 1228 by Pope Gregory IX.
